2013 Recipients:

The Messages Project enables children of incarcerated parents to maintain and rebuild relationships with their mothers and fathers. The Messages Project has recorded and delivered more than 10,000 video messages from incarcerated parents to their children.
Elijah House is a Christ-centered urban school where learning about God and His world leads to a discovery of the student’s identity, dignity and purpose in God’s mission to redeem all things. They provide a Christ-centered and accessible choice in education that cultivates the hearts, minds, and bodies of our city’s children for God’s glory and Richmond’s flourishing.
The Sophie House provides encouragement, supportive services, and housing to single women with or without children. Their goal is to move these women from instability to stability.
Jackson-Feild Homes gives residential and community based services to adolescent males and females ages 12 to 21. Jackson-Feild Behavioral Health Services provides high quality evidence-based psychiatric, residential, educational and recovery treatment services for children who suffer from severe emotional trauma, mental illness and/or addiction.
CJ’s Thumbs Up Foundation provides assistance to families of children with chronic and life threatening illnesses. They honor Charlotte Jennie’s (CJ) memory by serving families in their time of need.
Canine Companions for Independence enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships. The service dogs assist adults with physical disabilities by performing daily tasks
Galloping Acres Foundation, Inc. offers individuals with some cognitive, physical, or emotional disabilities to ride horses for therapy. Participants benefit from increased flexibility and better balance to greater confidence and self esteem.
Brain Injury Association of Virginia devotes to serving Virginians with brain injury, their families, and those that care for and about them. Their mission is to advance education, awareness, support, treatment, and research to improve the quality of life for all people affected by brain injury.
Richmond Friends of the Homeless strengthens and enriches the community life of the underprivileged and homeless in Richmond, Virginia. They mainly provide food for those in need.
Safe Harbor supports those who are experiencing or have experienced domestic and/or sexual violence. Safe Harbor offers comprehensive services for survivors of sexual and/or intimate partner violence
A Grace Place Adult Care Center provides individualized day support services for adults with disabilities and age-related conditions to support community based living and prevent isolation.
The Center for High Blood Pressure serves clients in the Richmond area by working with them to get high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes under control.
Greater Richmond ARC creates life-fulfilling opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Greater Richmond ARC offers a wide range of services and programs for those coping with the daily “real world” challenges of living with a disability.
LAMB’s Basket Food Pantry provides food to needy families of Henrico County. LAMB’s Basket Food Pantry works along churches in order to find families and need and provide food to them.
Northside Outreach Center assists low-income families and provides opportunities for underprivileged children . They have tutoring, mentoring, intentional discipleship and community outreach programs.
